The CIO has primary accountability for Information Leadership.

Information permeates today's enterprise. So do people and so does finance.

The CHRO is accountable for devising & applying HR strategies & policies across the enterprise. The CFO is accountable for devising & applying finance & accounting strategies & policies across the enterprise.

In the same way, the CIO is accountable for devising & applying information strategies & policies across the enterprise. He/she may delegate responsibility to business unit directors and managers for the local application of these strategies & policies.
